Commsoft – developers of OASES, one of the most successful aviation engineering and maintenance systems in the world – hosted the 2012 OASES User Group meeting on 27th/28th June at the Sheraton Skyline, Heathrow.
Held annually, these User Group meetings form a critical channel of communication between Commsoft and its customers. By providing an opportunity for discussions around customer priorities and demonstrations of upgrades and new features, they play an important part in helping customers to optimise their usage of OASES and in shaping the future direction of the OASES development programme.
New features presented and demonstrated at this year’s event included the TF60 – Fleet Planning Tool that enables the user to view a complete fleet-level forecast on a Gantt chart. The tool is still under development and additional features will be added following suggestions made by users during the beta testing phase.
Also unveiled at the event was another key OASES development that will enable users to model complex Airworthiness Directives (ADs) or Service Bulletins (SBs) where there are a number of actions with individual completions. The User Group also reviewed the development so far of a new warranty control system that will automatically identify unserviceable parts that may be the subject of a warranty claim.
Over the course of the two days, additional presentations were made by representatives from AerData, demonstrating their EFPAC system, and Critical Technologies demonstrating their AirVault Records Hub.
The ongoing commitment of a wide range of users to the OASES system was evident throughout the event and several of the proposed developments generated genuine excitement. The next User Group will be held in November 2013 and, in the meantime, attention will be given to further improving customer communications through the use of webinars and the online forum.
